This monotone, antique Victorian family tree record was originally made as a lithograph in 1888, by the Chapman Bros. in Chicago. I’ve digitally restored this vintage family record, removed the rips and tears, and brought it back to full brightness! You can put in photos of family members along with their information, or use the extra space in the ornate frames above the name banners to add in historical information about their lives.

THE IMAGERY INCLUDED IN THIS GREAT EXAMPLE OF VINTAGE 1800s AMERICANA
The central feature is an open locket, with a poem written inside. (This poem also appears in the collection of the Princeton Theological Seminary Library, and may have originally been set to music.)

Mortal be proud?
Like a swift fleeting meteor,
A fast-Flying cloud,
A flash of the lightning,
A break of the wave,
Man passeth
From life to his rest in
The Grave.

In Childhood’s
Hour, with careless Joy
Upon the stream we glide.

Beneath the open locket, we see a family (perhaps immigrants), traveling in a small boat to unknown shores to make a new life together. The four corners depict scenes from different parts of the cycle of life: youth, courting, starting a family, and growing old enough to be grandparents.

It measures 2700 x 3600 pixels and looks beautiful printed at 9 x 12 inches, though you can always print it larger! It is a .jpg image file, made to fit in 3:4 ratio frame sizes. I’ve included both the black and white version (so you can use it as a coloring book page, and the one with the tones of the aged lithograph.
