From there, it is a fillable, editable spreadsheet.  You can change anything you want, share it with collaborators, and access it online through your Gmail account, from any smartphone, tablet, or computer.

To get an editable version of this planner page in your Google Drive:

1. Log into your Gmail account.
2. Go to the link you get with your order.
3. At the top left, Click File  > Make a Copy.

Name it anything you like, and it’s now a fillable planner, saved to your Google Drive, so you can access it anywhere you like, from any smart device!

TRACK AS MANY GENERATIONS AS YOU CAN DISCOVER WITH THIS SIMPLE SYSTEM

Duplicate this page as many times as you need. The main sheet shows 6 generations and gives you a place to connect each ancestry line to an additional 5+ generations.   At the end of each pedigree line (on the right of the page), there’s a branch #, to tell you where this ancestor’s line continues. When you get to the end of the line, you just duplicate the spreadsheet into a new tab, type that person’s Branch # at the top of the new spreadsheet tab, and keep going until you run out of information. No matter how many generations you want to trace, this little page covers ALL of them!

GETTING STARTED

You can start by filling in your own family tree information. If you wish to add your partner’s information to your tree, there is a place for that in your own section. If you are not married or do not wish to include a partner, feel free to delete that section by selecting any text you do not want, and pushing the “delete” key on your keyboard. To the right of your name, enter your own parents, and continue working back in time by moving right on the page.

FAQ

Q: I DON’T USE GOOGLE DRIVE. CAN I JUST HAVE A PRINTABLE PDF PAGE?
A: Yes, this digital download also comes with 2 printable PDF pages, so you can print this family tree chart at home and fill it in by hand if that’s what you prefer.

Q: HOW DO I GET THIS FILE INTO MY GOOGLE DRIVE?
A: Download the PDF and click the link in it to get a copy of this file saved to your Google Drive. From there, you can edit it using Google Sheets (free). Claiming this file as a PDF also allows you to print it out on ANY PAPER SIZE YOU WANT. It also gives you the option to have margins on the left or right, so you can fill it out online, and print this one-page ancestry worksheet at home, to use as a binder or journal insert.

WHAT ABOUT DIVORCES AND MULTIPLE MARRIAGES?
Q: How can I document divorces and multiple marriages in this spreadsheet?
There are two different ways to do this!

A1. IF YOU WANT ALL THE FACTS VISIBLE ALL THE TIME
In the first 4 generations of each pedigree page, there is space under the standard data to add in customized information. If you need more room ANYWHERE on the spreadsheet, in Google Docs, you can simply click “INSERT > Row Below” to get an extra line wherever you like and type in your information.

A2. IF YOU WANT THE FACTS VISIBLE ONLY WHEN YOU HOVER OVER THE PERSON’S NAME
You can click on any cell, then click “INSERT > Note.” This will put a little triangle in the corner of that rectangle, and when you hover over it with your mouse, an extra text area will appear. You can type as much information as you like in there.
