Hi! If you’re on this page, it’s probably because I’m about to build you a WordPress website, blog or e-commerce store, and you need to choose a hosting plan and page builder that fits your needs.
These days, I use WordPress with Elementor to build all of my web design client’s sites. This makes sites user-friendly so you’ll be able to edit and manage the content without needing help! (That means you won’t have to pay people everytime you want to make a small change, which will save you a lot of money over the years.) Getting started is literally as easy as 1-2-3. In steps 1 and 2 below, you’ll get links to buy the external things necessary to start your genealogy website. Save your logins/passwords from these sites. If you’re one of my website clients, then in step 3, you can send them to me and I’ll start building your customized website right away.
If you haven’t gotten your web design estimate yet, you can do that HERE.
*This page contains affiliate links for products I’ve tested and chosen myself after a lot of trial and error. If you’re one of my regular clients, you know that I used to recommend GoDaddy and SiteGround, but recent changes in their server environment and plummeting SSL services [boo-hiss] have pushed them off my list. These are my recommendations for 2019, and moving forward…
If I sent you here, the next thing for you to do is get yourself some web hosting so we can begin your project.
Hosting is like the real estate where your website lives. The most important thing is to get a plan that meets your basic technical needs.
You can choose any company you want, but you must choose one that can deliver extremely fast websites and is compatible with all of the tools we will use to build your site, especially WordPress and Elementor. I recommend GreenGeeks because they have plans made to support WordPress and Elementor, and continue to deliver lightning-fast websites at great prices. I’ve tested a lot of hosting providers lately and they continue to be the top performers. They’re also the only environmentally conscious hosting providers on the market, and they have a negative Carbon Footprint, which means your website will too, if you host with them.
GreenGeeks was hand-picked by Elementor as one of “the most reliable & trustworthy hosting packages, highly compatible with Elementor.”
